Working in the Store

Morning Shift

Arrive at least 15 minutes early
Turn on all the lights, including the ones at artist tables & branches (see lighting instructions for details)
Put the Open sign out
Make sure the Square is powered on
Turn on the music
Do a quick check of Artist tables and if you see any big gaps, move things around or let the artist know in case they want to bring in more work
Put a “I am working here today” sign on your table
At end of shift, wipe the square for the next shift

During the Shift

Tissue paper is on the packing table. There is more in the closets behind the checkout. If we are running low, please contact Kim and she will bring more
For pottery, please use the bag of packing material behind the checkout the newsprint. If you run out of packing material, then just use the newsprint.
There should be enough bags hanging on the hooks and under the tables. There are boxes in the closet behind the cash-out area with more paper bags.
There are jewelry boxes under the table and more in the closet. Jewelers may have small bags or boxes on their tables that can be used for their jewelry. If someone asks, check the artist’s table to see if they have any
if you have question on labels or pricing, check the Artist Inventory sheets to confirm. Don’t guess.
Check artist tables to make sure all looks good
Wipe down surfaces at cash-out, door knobs and bathroom on first floor (that is the one that works) once an hour.

AFternoon Shift start

When you arrive: Put a “I am working here today” sign on your table

Remove the Open sign outside and place inside the door way
Turn off all the lights (see lighting instructions for details)
Take care of the cash-out (there are directions in the instruction book)
Wipe down surfaces at cash-out, door knobs and bathroom
At end of shift, wipe the square for the next shift and plug it in. cover with the black cloth
Always make sure to check that BOTH DOORS ARE LOCKED when you leave by pulling the doors

Lighting instructions for Holiday Market 2021

First turn on the main overhead lights.

In the back of the store in the store room is an electrical panel room. This light should always be on so you can find it.

Look at the electrical panel. Flip all green switches toward the center. DO NOT TOUCH THE RED SWITCHES.

All the ceiling lights we need to have on when we are open should now be on. Reverse this process to close.

There are 6 additional sections that need to be plugged in to various outlets to light up the white string lights throughout the store. This is easier to do after the main lights are all turned on.

1. As you walk into the store from outside take a right and head toward the closet next to Jen Cannizzaro’s space. Plug in both extension cords. This should light up Jen, Matthew, Yola, Jennifer & Suzanne’s spaces. As well as the front window display on this side of the room.

2. On the pillar next to Joe’s space. There may also be a second plug if a visiting artist shows up needing power.

3. Behind Yvette’s space there are 2 extension cords. Plug both in to the floor outlet. This should light up the entire back row.

4. Between Lisa & Andrea’s spaces there are 4 cords to plug in. This should light up Andrea, Lisa & Christine’s spaces.

5. To the right of Mystic Moon Beads there is a wall outlet. Plug in.

6. Go into the closet to the right of the cash out. Plug in the extension cord. This should light up the window lights on the cash out side of the room.
