I am a fiber artist, focusing primarily on quilting. My mother and grandmother taught me to sew as a child and I inherited their love of fabric and color.
I began quilting over 20 years ago when I was gifted a week of quilting classes when a friend who had signed up was unable to attend. I was intrigued by the talent of my classmates and the kindness and helpfulness of the quilting community. Their works sparked my creativity and I completed the classes with new ideas and energy. I was hooked!
I enjoy a variety of techniques and designs. Turning something old into something new is a great challenge. This may involve giving a traditional block a modern twist, or using clothes to create a memory quilt for a client.
In 2014, I purchased a long arm quilting machine and my mother and I began a family business, Cannizzaro Creations. Together, we offer quilting services for clients, create and sell quilts of all shapes and sizes, work with clients to create personalized items such as T-shirt and clothing quilts, and teach a variety of classes. We are currently writing a book, offering our tips and tricks for making modern and unique quilts out of clothing.
